Guest of honor of the festival- Reinhold Messner
“Climbing is all about freedom, the freedom to go beyond all the rules and take a chance, to experience something new, to gain insight into human nature. By climbing mountains we were not learning how big we were. We were finding out how breakable, how weak and how full of fear we are.
The scientists and climbers said that climbing 8,000-meter peaks without oxygen is impossible and it equals death.
So be it - I didn't go up there to die, I went up there to live.”
These words would only be said by a man who’s immensely in love with the mountains; a man who was trusted by the mountains so much that throughout 30 years they successfully let him ascend to their peaks 3,500 times.
Reinhold Messner - the legendary climber who conquered all fourteen eight-thousand-meter peaks of the Earth, crossed Antarctica, Greenland; as well as the deserts of Tibet, Gobi and Takla Makan…
And this year Reinhold Messner is headed to the Caucasus for our Mestia short and Mountain Film Festival, as the main guest of honor, as a director of mountain-films and as a master.
Mestia will host the legendary Reinhold Messner during July 23/27.
On July 24, we invite you, dear guests of the festival and Mestia to Reinhold Messner's masterclass.
